“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Today is our first Show Up For Yourself Saturday and it’s a good one! We’re going to stop 🙅♀️ caring what other people think!
I know this can be SO HARD. 😩 We’ve all been learning how to do this since we were young children and we’ll keep learning how to do it for the rest of our lives.
The thing is, we WANT to know people like us, we want people to like the decisions we make, we want people to like how we choose to live. We all want community and people who understand us and love us. And that’s not a bad thing.
It gets bad when we let the opinions of others dictate how we choose to live our lives as though they know better than we do. 🤨 They criticize what we eat, how we parent, how we clean, what we watch... and sometimes we can take their opinions too far and change something about ourselves when, honestly, what we’re doing is just fine and works for us. 🤷♀️
Listening to others is good. Asking for advice is good. But don’t let their words change how you live simply because you want to make someone happy or because they’re making you feel bad about yourself.
Listen to others. Take what works for you, what feels good for you and your life, and then leave behind the rest!
