“Only the evening will show what the day has been.” - Russian Proverb
We’re almost to the end of our Best Practices Before Bed week! How are you feeling? Are you learning a lot? Sleeping better already?
Today I wanna talk about setting a time limit. There are so many things (we’ve talked about a lot of them) you can do before bed to calm yourself, get ready for the day tomorrow, and prepare your body to fall asleep quickly and effortlessly.
But we also all have lives to live so I encourage you not to make your evening routine last more than an hour. There are so many things you CAN do – read for 20 minutes, stretch for 10 minutes, meditate for 10 minutes – and before long, you have to start your routine at 5pm to make sure you get it all done before your bedtime!
Keep your evening routine simple and not super time consuming. Make it something that’s easily achievable for you to do every night regardless of if a kid is sick, you have to work extra hours, etc. You don’t want to get home late and already feel behind because you have to do 17 things before bed.
It should be something you look forward to – not another cause of stress. So make it yours and keep it simple!
