Food Matters for Movement Week!

Yay! It’s our Food Matters for Movement week! Who doesn’t love talking about food? 😂

Today let’s set a good foundation for how we think about food! 🍽

Food is fun! It’s nutritious! It’s delicious! And we shouldn’t see food as a tool to be used as a punishment or a reward. Thoughts like those can lead to disordered eating and, since we just came out of Exercising Self-Compassion week, we know that being kind to ourselves is so important!

We all know what eating healthy looks like: Less processed foods, more whole foods, lots of fruits, veggies, seeds, and nuts! So we know what to eat if we want to eat healthy, but it’s also okay to eat unhealthy sometimes too!

Sometimes a doughnut or French fries just hits the spot and it’s okay! If you eat some fries, that doesn’t mean you have to go for a 3-mile run to “work off” those calories. It simply means you ate some fries and they were delicious! 🍟 Yay for potatoes! 🥔

If you’re struggling with seeing food as a reward or punishment, it may be a good idea to speak to a medical professional or look more into mindful eating. We all want you to feel safe when it comes to food. ❤️
